My Story

Ever since fourth grade, I have wanted to be a teacher.  My teachers were my mentors, instructors, and counselors.  I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for them.  They contributed to my “you can do it” attitude.  They taught me to think critically, explore my passions, and encouraged the growth of my own moral development.

From my time at Pepperdine University, I developed my leadership skills and educational experiences under the guidance of my professors and mentors.  My time as a resident advisor, tutor, and student-teacher gave me the aspiration of becoming a teacher who impacts the students as well as the educational system internationally and domestically.

My desire for learning beyond the classroom was something that my favorite teachers instilled in me and one that I carried into my teaching position at Big Valley Christian School.  Everyday I utilized my passion for learning and applied it to my subject material. I hoped to give my students the tools to follow their passion for learning.  I mentored my students so that they could grow academically and morally.  My goal was to challenge my students to become life-long learners. I inspired them to change the way they look at the world just as my past teachers encouraged me.

International Interests

I emerged as a transformed educator after leaving my hometown in central California to completing my undergrad education at Pepperdine University. During my high school years, I travelled to the Dominican Republic to teach English and Mathematics at a school in Jarabacoa.  During my junior year I travelled with my Spanish class to France and Spain for a cultural study.  My love for travel did not stop in high school, however, it evolved in college to become a passion!  I studied abroad in Shanghai, China during my sophomore year at Pepperdine.  Roaming around Asia, practicing intercultural exchange with Fudan University, learning Chinese, and serving as a resident advisor to my peers all contributed to shaping my global-mindset.  During my Senior year I was employed by Pepperdine University’s International Programs Office as the Student Development and IPRA Hiring Intern.
